There are five reasons why Packaging is used. These reasons are often referred to by the acronym SIPPP.
They are: Stacking and Storage, Information, Protect, Preserve, Promote (Advertise!)
Packages start out as Surface Developments. A Surface Development or net is a two dimensional shape which when scored, folded and glued together forms a three-dimensional package, carton or container.
