Animal Design Task

task

You have been employed by Kelloggs to design a range of plastic Animals that are to be given away as free gifts inside packets of Corn Flakes. Kelloggs believe that children will convince their parents to buy Corn Flakes because they will want to collect the Animals.

The Animals need to be printed as 2D views that slide together to make a 3D Animal.

The Animals:

kelloggs

Are to be printed using PLA plastic.

Should be 2mm thick (because of weight and manufacturing costs).

Should be no more than 110 mm x 110 mm when flat ( so they fit on 3D printer build plate).

Can be printed in different colours.

Should not have any very small parts that a child could swallow.

Should not have any parts that are sharp enough to cut a child.

Should not have any parts that are easily snapped.

Should be easy to assemble.

Should be stable and freestanding when assembled.

Your teacher will provide you with this. An image is shown (right) and an A3 PDF version can be downloaded by clicking on the PDF symbol below.

The template will help you to work out the sizes you need to use later on when you draw your Animal using 123D Design.

Each box is 100 mm x 100 mm and the lines are spaced 10 mm apart.
