Liam's Lawns Task

task

Liam has decided to earn some extra money by starting a lawn mowing business. He is very good at gardening but he isn’t that great at maths or IT. He knows that you are awesome with Spreadsheets so he wants you to help him.

He is prepared to give you 15% of everything he earns!

To calculate what to charge each customer you need to determine the area of the lawns on each property.

You then need to charge 40 cents per square metre.

Liam only has three customers so far, Mr Smith, Mrs Jones and Dr Thomas.

Layout and dimensions of each garden are provided at the bottom of this page.

You need to design a Spreadsheet for Liam. It should include:

The customers name

The length and width measurements for each section of lawn

The calculated area in square metres for each section

The charge for each section

The Total Charge for the customer

Liam’s share of the profit

Your share of the profit

The Total Profit for Liam and yourself (combining the results from all three customers)

Mr Smith

Mr Smith’s has a front lawn and a back lawn. The front lawn measures 6 metres by 20 metres. The back lawn measures 15 metres by 23 metres.

Mrs Jones

Has a front lawn that is 10 metres by 15 metres and a back lawn that is 6 metres by 9 metres.

Dr Thomas

Has a back lawn that is 22 metres by 15 metres, but he has a swimming pool in the middle of it.

The swimming pool is 8 metres by 5 metres in size.

His front lawn is 15 metres by 12 meters but he has a vegetable patch in the middle. The vegetable path is 6 metres by 6 metres.
