An example of Control Technology

Scenario

A Design Consultancy called 'New Ideas' is opening in the centre of Brisbane. Their offices have underground parking for their staff. The premises are located near to the 'Gabba' and the company are concerned that the general public might try to use their parking. They would like to have some form of barrier or gate to close off the car park but they do not want to employ someone to open and close the gate all day long. The employees don't want to have to get out of the car to unlock and relock a gate each time either.

Solution

One of the designers has come up with the idea of having an electronic gate. Each car will have an 'input device', similar to the GoVia Tags used to pay e-tolls on the motorways in Queensland. When the barrier's 'sensor' reads the Tag the barrier opens and once the car passes a second 'sensor' the barrier closes again.
