Manual Control of Tello Drones

Drones can be manually controlled or programmed to complete specific flight paths. In our first activity we will manually control the drones. For this task you will work with your group and compete in a relay race. You will use the iPads to fly the drones.

Make sure you listen carefully about how you SAFELY fly the drone.

Coding Drones Using Tello EDU

1) Click Here to download the Tello Edu software to your computer. Once downloaded, go to your downloads folder and double-click on the file to install it.

2) Open up the Tello EDU application. There is no need to login to this software. Your first task will be to complete the Training Station.

3) After you have completed the 9 training stages, take a snip of your badges and paste the images into your workbook as evidence.

4) To demonstrate your understanding from the training station you are to complete the Earth Mission.

5) After you have completed the Earth Mission, take a snip of your results and paste the evidence in your workbook.

Creating your own Drone Code using the Tello EDU Application

1) Click the Blocks icon to enter the editor

2) For each drone task you need to develop a solution by dragging blocks and attaching them one after the other.

The Virtual Drone allows you to the run the program on your computer so that you can test your solutions.

You should save each of your solutions; however, as soon as you finish a task take a snip of your solution and paste it in your workbook.
