Drone Challenges

How to complete your work

As you did with the Jimu Robot Challenges, you need to insert pictures in your workbook as evidence of each task completed.

Use the Virtual Drone to test your solutions.

You are to develop your coded solutions in the Tello EDU application by clicking on the Blocks button, as shown below.

Marks will be awarded for making your code correct and efficient.

These are individual tasks. You must not share your solutions with any other students.

Task 1 - Take off and land

The starting direction of the Drone is indicated by the green arrow on H1.

Make your Drone take off, move forward for the required amount and then land on H2.

Task 2 - Change Direction

This time after your drone lands on H2 it needs to take off again, turn 90 degrees and then travel to and land on H3.

Task 3 - Reverse

Re-save and then edit your Task 2 code so that the Drone also does the journey in reverse (going backwards). Ending up back on H1, facing the same direction it started in.

Task 4 - Hoop

Fly the Drone through a hoop. The important measurements here are 5 meters between H1 and H2, with the hoop positioned 2 meters away from H1.

Task 5 - Repeat

Use the Repeat command to make your drone fly in a square, turn around and fly back again in the opposite direction. You are trying to use the least amount of code possible. The image below is in the top-down view.

Task 6 - Field Survey

You have been asked by Farmer Jones to take aerial photos of his sugar cane field so he can check for cane toad damage. You MUST use a repeat Loop to fly your Drone as indicated below. The image below is in the top-down view.

Extension Task

Once you have completed all workbook activities and the Robotics Research task you can physically test your coded solution for Task 4 - Hoop with a Tello drone.
