Creating a Final Design using Adobe Illustrator

You need to convert your drawing into a Vector image so it can be created using the Carvey.

When you scanned your synthesised design you should have saved it as either a jpg or png file type.

These types of files are known as Bitmap or Raster images, which means they use Pixels (lots of little dots) to make the image.

If you zoom in on a Bitmap image (such as a photo) you can see the pixels.

A Vector image is made using lines instead of pixels, which means you can zoom in as much as you like and you will never see pixels.

You need to use Illustrator to create a better copy of your design that can be used to 'cut' your design into the MDF using the Carvey machine. To do this you need to 'trace' it in Illustrator. Watch the video below to help you do this.

Submit a copy of your Illustrator file and an SVG version to your teacher

Save a JPEG version of your drawing and insert it into the Final Design page of your Folio.
