Introduction to Robotics

A Robot is a machine that has been designed to execute one or more tasks repeatedly, with speed and precision.

There are many different types of robots and they are used from everything from manufacturing cars to performing surgery.

A robot can be controlled by a human operator, sometimes from a great distance, but most robots are controlled by computer.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the branch of computer science concerned with making computers behave like humans.

AI is at the core of many new technologies that will shape our future. From self-driving cars to household robots, advancements in AI help transform science fiction into real systems.

This term you are going to use Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robots. If a Robot is not 'programmed' it is just a very fancy looking statue.

You are going to program your Robots using Lego software which is called EV3.

You will learn about the Robots by completing a series of Group Activities, where you will be working collaboratively with two other students. Your group will be responsible for their own Robot.

After this you will complete a series of Individual Tasks. You will do these individually but you will still be using the shared Robot.
